Warm up those fingers, it’s time to shred. Today, DragonForce’s “Through the Fire and Flames” arrives in Guitar Hero Live, and to celebrate, we’re kicking off a five-day marathon in Guitar Hero Live’s GHTV mode. From today, Wednesday, February 3, until 7:00am PT Monday, February 8, fans can put their skills to the test and take on “Through the Fire and Flames” and the hardest tracks in Guitar Hero Live. The limited-time event, aptly dubbed the SHRED-A-THON, can be found on a special third channel within GHTV and features five face-melting tracks, including:
Each song in the SHRED-A-THON has been handpicked by the developers at FreeStyleGames and is Rivals Challenge-enabled*, giving players a chance to compete against other matchmade players in a head-to-head battle. Alongside the glory of besting other players or climbing the leaderboards in the game, throughout the SHRED-A-THON, fans can also check out @GuitarHero on Twitter for a chance to win prizes**, such as an exclusive in-game Player Card, song play tokens, gold Guitar Hero Live controllers, t-shirts, and more.
“The Guitar Hero community is the lifeblood of the game, so we knew we had to do something huge to bring back one of the most beloved songs of all time,” said Jamie Jackson, Creative Director and Co-Head of FreeStyleGames. “Everyone at the studio has fond memories with ‘Through the Fire and Flames,’ so we decided to take it up a notch and combine it with the toughest songs in the game hand-picked by us to create the ultimate challenge: a five-day shredder marathon. It’s time to crank it up to expert difficulty and show us what you got!”
