Call of Duty: WWII Sets Records

Passionate fans have helped catapult Call of Duty: WWII into a record-breaking launch!

Call of Duty has some of the most passionate fans on the planet, and they have responded to the boots on the ground gameplay that reunited the franchise with its original setting in World War II. Fans have been responding to the cinematic campaign that takes them across the European theater of the war, the innovative multiplayer, and the return to survival horror in Nazi Zombies.

"We challenged our players to get their squads back together and they answered the call, with the highest number of players we’ve ever seen on current gen consoles and PC,” said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision. “Call of Duty: WWII returns the franchise to its roots and the results are incredible, selling twice as many units in its opening weekend as last year, and setting the day one record for full-game downloads on PlayStation 4. Our $500 million opening weekend was not only bigger than Thor: Ragnarok's, it was bigger than the opening weekends of both Thor and Wonder Woman combined. And we're committed to supporting the community with continuous improvements and new content.”

The dust has only just now begun to settle from Call of Duty: WWII’s launch weekend, which began on November 3, 2017, so let’s look at some of the numbers*:

  • Three-Day Opening Weekend Over $500 Million in Worldwide sales
  • Activision’s World War II Epic Sells Twice as Many Units at Launch as Last Year
  • Call of Duty’s Highest Total Connected Users on Current Generation Consoles and PC
  • On PlayStation 4, Call of Duty: WWII set a record as the best-selling digital full game by units sold on its first day of availability

“Activision has a hit on their hands with the launch of the new Call of Duty: WWII,” said Bob Puzon, senior vice president of Merchandising for GameStop. “Within our stores, we have seen tremendous customer excitement for the new title. Year over year numbers are significantly up in pre-orders and day one sales versus last year.”

What’s important to note about these impressive numbers, is that none of it would be possible without each and every one of you. Our fans are proud of their passion, and we are incredibly excited that they are embracing Call of Duty: WWII. Because when you come right down to it, we’re fans too.

Stay tuned in the coming weeks ahead as players continue to play the game. There’s a lot more in store, including the first DLC Pack, The Resistance. But for now, we need to start climbing the leaderboard of thanking people, and we would like to thank you. Yes, you. We’ll see you on the field.

They forgot to add the epic bugs and crashes at launch to the record breaking catagory. Yeah we have come to expect and except them on mass launches when we should not. I am not the only one with issues but that is not comforting either. All developers should heed this warning and do better to produce a stable product at launch not to mention the production department letting them have the time to do so instead of rushing the release.

I absolutley love the game...I love the boots on the ground..The real war feel is fantastic and the weapons are beyond fantastic....The flying n wall running was a complete disater n im glad that era is gone!!! But i will say  the spawning still leaves something to be desired n the amount of hit markers you can get in Hardcore is ridiculous..Im a die hard hard core player and when im getting killed by a pistol after getting hit markers on my enemy with the STG assault rifle...Ummm yeah that is weak..Other than that rant...GREAT JOB BOYS!!! Just a thought for the future..Lets visit Vietnam...C.O.D VietnamSmiley Very Happyays spent in HELL!!!!

It's a shame that despite taking  $500m from their loyal customers Activision refuse to invest enough money in the servers to keep them running smoothly. I guess they've got your money by then though so they obviously don't care.

There was an update this past Friday Nov-10-17, since that day, I have not been able to play Multiplayer (MP), same thing has happened to my 10 COD WWII freinds that I play with them always MP, located in different parts of the world. -- I have sat in front of my TV for as long as 28min and no games are found (several times) it is so frustraiting, and I paid $108.25 for the PRO Edition of the game. Before the update, I had zero issues. Its to bad issues started this weekend of 2XP ... HOW DOES ONE COME TO COMMUNICATE THIS PROBLEM TO THE DEVELOPERS???

This games has been out for two weeks now and every time i get a top placement in a match me or my friends all get disconnected it takes for ever to play trying to keep a party together why is it taking so long to fix this issue

This has to be the Worst at getting in a game and staying in the lobby with the crew you wanted us to get back together. Continually getting kicked after a game or worse yet getting kicked right at the loading screen as the rest of the team starts playing. One or two of us are constantly geating kicked. Why don’t you get dedicated servers. This game is worse than infinite warfare for having to restart tp party up.

It would be nice if it didn’t have so many problems. Epic Failure!!

Seems like every second day I'm getting update failures, codes 1,3 or 5 .... Sometimes all three in the same day and now going on two days straight of not being able to play online.... so far the worst game I've seen for this and upset I spent money to have these problems. That being said any insight would be great.
