Activision Games Blog: What do you do here at Activision? Alan Johnson: I am a Communications Manager on the Call of Duty team, and I have been working here since 2012. We just launched Call of Duty: WWII so it’s been a really busy, but fun year. Our team works on a wide range of projects, including press outreach, global events and a ton of community activations throughout the year. There is always something exciting going on.
What is your favorite part about working here? My favorite part of working at Activision is how positive of a workplace it is. From the day-to-day work to the wider corporate experience here, ideas are listened to, great work is celebrated and there’s always a drive to do even better at each opportunity. Additionally, getting the chance to do cool and very unexpected things all in the service of Call of Duty is great!
What is your favorite Activision video game? I really do love Call of Duty! From the start, it’s always set the bar for entertainment to me, and it’s absolutely awesome to actually be part of it.
In addition to Call of Duty, my favorite Activision game or games of all-time would have to be both of the X-Men Legends games: X-Men Legends and X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse. I have been a lifelong X-Men fan and up until the first X-Men Legends, I never felt that the mutants had gotten their due in video games.
How do you put Activision’s Core Values into action? Activision’s Values mean a lot to me, and I try to live up to them every day. Everything I work on with the Call of Duty team, I take extremely seriously and personally. I genuinely feel like I have a stake in what’s at play here and make sure my every day work reflects that – no stone left unturned.
Finally, if you could be any Activision character, who would you choose and why? I am the nameless Guitar Hero avatar, because I am known (in some parts) to be quite good at air guitaring.
