Here’s information on the three levels from the full game that this demo includes:

Snow Way Out

Set in the 11th Dimension circa 1954, Snow Way Out is where Crash uses the Time Mask – Kupuna-Wa – to slow down ice blocks and temporary platforms for safe passage.

While soaking in every last pixel of the new art style, be on the lookout for enemies who will destroy Bandicoots in whatever wacky way they see fit.

You’ll need to get past them as they guard plenty of Wumpa fruit and crates that need to be collected or destroyed, with an optional Bonus Path offering even more challenge for those aiming to master its simple, yet deceptive, platformer puzzle.

Dino Dash

The other “traditional” Crash level included in this demo will bring in a nostalgia-filled chase sequence alongside traditional platforming.

Who will be chasing our lovable bandicoots? Because they are sent back to a dimension set millions of years ago for the events of Dino Dash, they will have to outrun a ferocious, hungry, and terrifying Tyrannosaurus Rex!

Before making that mad dash to safety, expect to hop on top of some friendly herbivores eating their lunch, as well as use another Quantum Mask – the Phase Shift Mask, Lani-Loli – to phase platforms, obstacles, and boxes into the physical dimension.

Snow Way Out (Cortex Timeline)

The final hands-on experience is Snow Way Out. However, this timeline features Neo Cortex as the playable character!

Because It’s About Time, this alternate perspective will put you in the shoes of the villainous Dr. Neo Cortex, who can turn enemies into platforms or gelatinous cubes to bounce on. He can also dash on the ground or in mid-air to cross chasms that would otherwise send him to his doom.

Venturing along this section of the main Snow Way Out path is a completely unique and separate experience, where you’ll see just how the Doctor narrowly missed on catching those pesky Bandicoots, before going down a slightly altered, more difficult and Wumpa Fruit filled, path as Crash.

Tawna Bandicoot, Redefined and Playable at Launch

At launch, there are three unique timelines to explore outside of our Bandicoot’s main journey. Two of them have already been revealed: the never-ending failures of Neo Cortex, and the heart-warming story of Dingodile’s reformation from a roast-happy villain to a short-order cook and diner owner.

The last, but not least, of this timeline trio involves a familiar face from the first Crash Bandicoot game: Tawna Bandicoot. This is not the Tawna you remember, but that’s easy to say about someone from another dimension. In her universe, Tawna stars as a true hero in her own epic adventure, and she might be the key to helping  Crash and Coco save the entire multiverse!

Leap into action as Tawna in Crash 4 – swing across platforms with her trusty hook-shot, ascend to new heights with her acrobatic wall jump, and knock out enemies with her powerful ground-pounds and spin kicks.

Flashback Tapes

Alongside the Timeline levels, the bravest and highly skilled Bandicoots within Crash Bandicoot 4 will also be able to collect and play Flashback Tapes.

These difficult experiences are only accessible by collecting VHS tapes in specific main levels, and only spawn if Crash or Coco reaches the tape’s location without dying once within that level.

Every tape unlocks a new Flashback level, which features Crash or Coco navigating through Cortex’s test chambers prior to the events of the original Crash Bandicoot.

Don’t let the 90s aesthetic and Neo Cortex’s commentary bring your guard down; these levels are actually experimental tests concocted by the Doctor himself, as he wanted to see how well his creations would fare in the most difficult of crate-filled environments.

Survive these tests, and you’ll be one step closer to becoming a true master of Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time.
