This year, the Skylanders universe will see its biggest expansion yet with the debut of Skylanders SuperChargers. Revealed today, Skylanders SuperChargers takes the toys-to-life experience and adds a completely new world of gameplay, characters, and toys through the introduction of vehicles. In addition to the series’ character-based exploration and combat, you’ll take to the land, sky, and sea to explore new environments and engage in fast-paced combat. But vehicles are just the beginning—Skylanders SuperChargers is packed with new features and gameplay to discover. Here’s everything you need to know.
A Brand-New Adventure
In Skylanders SuperChargers, Skylands’ most prolific villain, Kaos, is once again attempting to conquer the world with his latest superweapon: the Doomstation of Ultimate Doomstruction. To stop his sinister plot, Master Eon has assembled a team of Skylanders known as SuperChargers to pilot a fleet of land, sea, and sky-based vehicles to adventure through the world and battle Kaos and his minions in an all-new story.
New and Returning Heroes
In your fight against Kaos, you’ll not only be able to wield the powers of all 300+ Skylanders characters and toys to-date, but also a class of more than 15 new and returning heroes. You’ll be able to play as powerful new SuperChargers like Stormblade and Spitfire, but also reimagined favorites like Stealth Elf. The SuperChargers not only have distinctive personalities and designs, but also special abilities and their own signature vehicles, which when paired together, create a SuperCharged Combo, which unlocks unique vehicle mods and a damage boost to the vehicle’s weapons.
The SuperChargers' Fleet of Vehicles
Whether playing as a SuperCharger or an existing Skylander, you’ll be able to jump in the driver’s seat of more than 15 new vehicles, including boats, submarines, jets, helicopters, race cars, tanks, and more. Within the game, each vehicle can be tricked out with a plethora of upgrades and modifications that alter their appearance and performance. As you explore the world, you’ll uncover rare mods, like powerful volcanic booster engines that spew lava rocks or jet wings with feathers made of gold.
A Bigger, More Diverse World to Explore
Vehicles not only introduce new characters, combat, and customization options, they fundamentally change the world of Skylanders—adding new depth to the environment and gameplay. In addition to innovations to the series’ renowned on-foot platforming, combat, puzzles, and mini-games, Skylanders SuperChargers’ new vehicle-based gameplay heralds the arrival of aerial, water, and land exploration. You’ll speed through the world and battle enemies in your high-speed land vehicle, explore the depths of the sea in a submarine, take to the air for intense dogfighting with 360 degrees of control, and so much more. With new land, air, and sea environments, Skylands is bigger and more diverse than ever. Thanks to the new generation of game consoles, developers Vicarious Visions have been able to bring unprecedented detail and life to the universe, whether it is the quality of the graphics to dynamic environmental effects and number of on-screen enemies.
Vehicle Fun Inside and Outside of Skylands
Alongside all of their in-game innovations, the vehicles of Skylanders SuperChargers add a new layer of fun outside of the game. Not only are they collectible, many of the toys have functional moving parts for real-world play. For instance, the new Starter Pack vehicle Hot Streak has spinning wheels, while another announced vehicle, DiveBomber has a spinning propeller.
Join Forces with a Friend
As fans have come to expect, Skylanders SuperChargers can be a shared experience through local cooperative play, but now, you’ll be able to work together with a friend even as you speed through the sky, land, or sea. During vehicle gameplay, players can take the roles of pilot and gunner, unlocking new combat and exploration abilities. Best of all, you can switch roles on the fly, letting everyone have a chance to fight off enemies or hop into the driver’s seat.
Unlock New Powers Through Traps
If you assembled a collection of traps in the last year, fret not—traps from Skylanders Trap Team play a special role in Skylanders SuperChargers. Just drop a trap into either your Skylanders Trap Team Traptanium Portal or the new Portal Of Power’s trap slot and gain a new and exclusive attack for your character or vehicle. Traps containing a villain can also be used to unlock exclusive cards in Skylanders SuperChargers’ mini-game, Skystones Overdrive.
The New Starter Pack
As mentioned, players will be able to bring their entire collection of existing characters and toys into the world of Skylanders SuperChargers, but for new players or just existing fans looking to upgrade, there’s a brand-new Starter Pack. The new Skylanders SuperChargers Starter Pack includes two characters—Super Shot Stealth Elf and Spitfire—a new land vehicle, Hot Streak, and the brand-new Skylanders SuperChargers Portal of Power. For those that simply want to download and play the game digitally, there’s also the new Skylanders SuperChargers Digital Portal Master Edition.
