Guitar Hero Live: Taking the Stage at SoundDial and Rock The Block

Learn more about GH Live’s in-game festivals.

The roar of the crowd, the thrill of taking the stage, and gazing upon a sea of adoring fans—Guitar Hero Live aims to deliver that universal rockstar fantasy. This week at Gamescom, we’re shedding new light on how developer FreeStyleGames is honing the rock n’ roll experience in Guitar Hero Live’s live-action mode GH Live.

In GH Live, you’ll perform in 10 bands, each with their own unique identity and genre, as part of two massive music festivals—SoundDial and Rock The Block. Throughout each festival, you’ll get a taste of what it’s like to perform in a variety of settings, from small clubs to headlining the main stage and everything in between. SoundDial is the biggest outdoor event in all of the UK, drawing over 300,000 passionate music fans each year. Thanks to a varying array of musical styles and the picturesque settings in the British countryside, SoundDial is the place to be for music aficionados. Meanwhile, in the U.S., Rock the Block has grown into a hot ticket festival in and around Boulder City. The event celebrates spontaneity, as shows pop up in different locations around town and fans drift from stage to stage, checking out the famous (and almost famous) bands.

As you might expect, the crowds and general environment will change depending on the genre of the band. For instance, when you're playing Pierce the Veil's "King for a Day," the audience will be made up of metal fans and will behave accordingly. But a band playing a song from The Lumineers will attract a different crowd and different attitudes from your band mates. Ultimately, this leads to a genuine feeling of taking part in the experience of playing with a real band and how an actual show might work out.

Alongside the new details about GH Live’s in-game music festivals, we’ve also unveiled 16 more songs playable in Guitar Hero Live, bringing the total number of announced songs to 100 with more to come. What’s more, we’ve also announced that Guitar Hero Live will also support vocals in multiplayer—check out our post for more details.
