How to Survive The Beast from Beyond

The final act of Willard Wyler’s cinematic collection of doom is here, and if you need help in outlasting his undead army, we have you covered.

Greetings to each and every one who have survived Willard Wyler’s previous films! Over the past ten months, you have travelled across four decades of horror, defeating killer clowns, aliens, a chainsaw wielding Slasher with a secret, New York City’s Rat King, and a giant Radioactive Thing.

Oh, and of course, zombies!

Out now on the PlayStation 4 and with other platforms to follow, the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Retribution DLC Pack has one final film for you to conquer before you are free from Wyler’s cavalcade of horror, and that film is The Beast from Beyond.

Set in the distant future, you join our heroes Andre, A.J., Sally and Poindexter inside of an abandoned military base on a distant ice planet. Along with the zombified crew members you will have to kill to survive, Willard Wyler has unleashed his most diabolical creations yet in a final attempt to put an end to your acting career. What’s more is that these special guest stars are just the beginning of the surprises in The Beast from Beyond.

Are you ready to escape Wyler’s films once and for all, and receive some special goodies for doing so? If so, then here are a few tips to help you survive long enough to snag that final piece of the Soul Key.

The Cryptid Conundrum

Do you remember sinking hours of time into the Extinction mode in Call of Duty: Ghosts? Then you may remember the Cryptids, a prehistoric species who want nothing more than to wipe out all of humanity.

As you could have probably guessed from the Retribution trailer, those ugly critters are back to cause trouble in The Beast from Beyond, acting as part of Willard Wyler’s horrifying supporting cast.

Cryptids come in all shapes and sizes, with Scouts being your main adversary in this map. Cryptid Scouts move a lot faster than the typical undead, and stay low to the ground on all fours until they are close enough to lunge at you. They also pack quite a punch; a few swipes from a Scout will mean certain death, especially in early rounds when you only have your assault rifle and zero perks.

The key to taking out these Cryptids is to make sure they do not surround you. In most Call of Duty zombie maps, putting yourself against a wall or corner is usually a bad idea, but against the fast moving Cryptids, bottlenecking them in one direction is far better than having a fast-moving pack outrun you. Another tip is to find higher ground, such as in the starting room, so you can pick off Cryptids as they leap to your level.

Finally, make sure to buy a secondary weapon as soon as possible, so you don’t have to pick a fistfight with a Cryptid when you run out of ammo. Spoiler alert: You will lose that fight almost every single time.

Although the Cryptids may seem like annoying pests, they play a role in unlocking and upgrading a powerful weapon in The Beast from Beyond, one that Call of Duty: Ghosts Extinction players will be very familiar with.

Power Up to Survive

If you do not like dealing with swarms of Cryptids every round, then you will have to figure out how to turn on the abandoned military station’s power.

First, you have to buy your way out of the starting room, which you can do after earning enough points from killing Cryptids. Next, start exploring the map until you come across a room with a giant crater in the middle.

If Call of Duty has taught you anything, you know that falling straight down a pit means certain death. However, if you look down this pit, you will see a green light that marks a small ledge.

Aim your jump towards this ledge, and if you land on it, you’ll not only find the helpful Tuff ‘Nuff Candy Perk that will allow you to take more damage, but also a tunnel that leads to a catwalk. At the end of the catwalk, you’ll find the head of N31L, who you may remember as the helpful robot from Zombies in Spaceland. N31L is back again to help you defeat Willard Wyler, and will activate the facility’s power if you insert his head into the Terminal located in the starting room.

At this point, you can start taking steps towards unlocking the Pack-A-Punch machine as well as the various Easter eggs in The Beast from Beyond. Unfortunately, you will have to figure out those steps without our help, because why would we want to ruin all the excitement of figuring out the Easter eggs?, but what I can tell you is that The Beast from Beyond has a great amount of surprises in store for those who unlock its secrets.

The Ultimate Reward for Loyal Easter Egg Hunters

When Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare came out, those who completed the Zombies in Spaceland main Easter egg and went into the Projector Room wondered about the purpose of a small case that contained a piece of the Soul Key. Then, when those same people completed the Rave in the Redwoods Easter egg and saw another piece added to the case, they theorized that completing the main Easter eggs on every map would lead to a greater reward.

Needless to say, those theories were definitely on the right track.

If you have all four DLC Packs for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and complete the Soul Key Easter eggs on each zombies map, you’ll be able to access a special “Director’s Cut” by going back to the Projection Room on any map and unlocking the mode from there.

Have you ever wondered what that rumored “Yeti Easter Egg” is inside Zombies in Spaceland? Or did you find anything peculiar in the other films that didn’t seem to make sense with any of the other Easter Eggs that were previously discovered? Then you may find the answer to all of those mysteries, and more, inside the Director’s Cut.

Along with that, activating Director’s Cut will make the game slightly easier by offering better starting weapons, permanent perks, automatically Pack-a-Punched weapons, and other in-game benefits. This mode is perfect for those of you with friends who want to get into Call of Duty’s zombies mode, but are hoping to experience the game in a less difficult environment.

Only few will have the skill and dedication to collect all five pieces of the Soul Key and unlock the Director’s Cut, so if you are ready to experience your favorite Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare zombies maps in a brand-new way, then get on the hunt!

But be forewarned: Defeating Willard Wyler’s macabre visions is only the beginning of your nightmare…
