Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Clan Wars and Companion App Detailed

The first Clan War begins November 26.

Based upon tremendous community response, Clan Wars will be back and better than ever with the release of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare next month. As a refresher, Clan Wars is a multiplayer metagame, wherein players band together and form clans to fight for control of key strategic locations on an interactive map within the Call of Duty companion app for a chance to earn exclusive in-game rewards. But unlike traditional clan competitions, Clan Wars allows players of all skill levels to contribute to their clan's standings by simply playing predefined multiplayer modes — regardless of whether they're playing together or solo.

The new Clan Wars experience for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare was detailed today via the Call of Duty Clan Wars blog and will be anchored by the new and improved Call of Duty companion app for iOS, Android, Windows, and Kindle devices. The app introduces expanded tools for managing a clan, tracking member progress, and for the first time ever, the ability to create custom player and Clan emblems on your mobile device.

At the center of it all is the the new War Room interface, which lets clan members gain insights into current Clan War performance, previous Clan War results, and the top contributors from their clan. Leaders can leverage Battle Reports to get a quick rundown of how their clan is doing in the latest engagement, such as objectives yet to be captured, recent wins, and active multiplayer XP bonuses. For a more detailed understanding of how a clan ranks amongst the competition, there's the Clan Wars scoreboard, and the most valuable members of a clan will appear in the new Top War Contributors menu.

However, for those times when clan members are unable to participate in upcoming Clan Wars, leaders will now be able to manage whose in-game activity will contribute to an engagement through the Active Roster feature. Only the performance of members included in the Active Roster will count toward the ongoing Clan War, and whenever a player is back in action and ready to compete, a leader can easily add members back via the app.

As mentioned, clans will now be able to distinguish themselves with Clan Calling Cards — unique in-game graphics unlocked through Clan Wars progress and by playing matches with clanmates. Clan members can also use the new in-game and in-app Clan Emblem editor to create original emblems to represent their clan or their individual operator. Last but not least, anyone in a clan can create and submit a Clan Emblem to their clan leader for approval to be brandished in-game and on their clan's revamped Clan Profile page, which now highlights the most active, MVP, and highest KDR members of the week.

The first Clan War for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will begin with a pre-qualifying competition on November 15 and 16, after which clans will be assigned a division for the formal Clan War engagement scheduled from November 26 to December 1. Clans that compete will have a chance to earn a Clan Wars exclusive EXO for the gold Centurion Operator.
