Call of Duty Returns to San Diego Comic Con

Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops III Both Gear Up for This Year’s Premier Fan Event

If you’re planning to head down to San Diego this month, Call of Duty is returning to San Diego Comic Con armed with an arsenal of new information about the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare campaign. Hosted by Greg Miller of Kinda Funny fame, the panel will include never-before-seen footage from the story campaign. The panel will take place on Thursday, July 21 at 1:00pm in room 6BCF at the San Diego Convention Center.

Infinity Ward will be joined by members of the campaign’s cast to dive into the process of creating a blockbuster video game narrative experience. Look for new details about the game, including a sneak peak at the ‘making-of’ the cinematic journey players will undertake when Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare launches worldwide this November.

The panelists include:

  • Taylor Kurosaki, Narrative Director at Infinity Ward
  • Jeff Negus, Director of Photography at Infinity Ward
  • Brian Bloom (The A-Team, Once Upon a Time in  America)
  • Jamie Gray Hyder (True Blood, Graceland)
  • David Harewood (Supergirl, Blood Diamond)
  • Jeffrey Nordling (Sully, Big Little Lies)

As an added bonus, all attendees will be given a special limited edition, hand-numbered Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare lithograph poster.  The poster was created in partnership with Mondo (www.mondotees.com) and drawn by UK-based artist Matt Taylor (www.matttaylor.co.uk).

On the Black Ops III side of things, Dark Horse Comics, Activision and Treyarch have teamed up to deliver a Zombies-themed comic book series: Call of Duty: Zombies #1 (of 6), which is set to hit comic stands October 19, 2016. Written by Justin Jordan (Green Lantern: New Guardians), and illustrated by Jonathan Wayshak (Devolution), Call of Duty: Zombies features a story by Zombies Director, Jason Blundell and the studio’s Lead Writer, Craig Houston. Additionally, the cover art is handled by renowned artist Simon Bisley.

Since Treyarch first introduced Zombies to the Call of Duty franchise as an Easter Egg in Call of Duty: World at War, it has grown into its own pop-culture phenomenon. Now, Treyarch’s Blundell and Houston help take fans even deeper down the rabbit hole…

On his quest to secure an ancient artifact known as The Kronorium, Doctor Edward Richtofen enlists the help of The Tranzit Crew, a rag tag group of survivors last seen in the Black Ops II Zombies installment Buried. On a deeply unstable and fractured future Earth, Stuhlinger, Misty, Russman, and Marlton battle for survival against the undead horde, as they slowly uncover the truth behind Richtofen’s mysterious reappearance. The Call of Duty: Zombies miniseries follows these characters’ perilous journey of discovery, filling in crucial pieces of the larger Zombies Story.

To help celebrate the occasion, Jason Blundell, Director of Zombies at Treyarch, will join Dark Horse’s Comics & Video Games panel on July 21st, 5pm PT in Room 23ABC, where he’ll shed light onto some of the secrets hidden within the Call of Duty: Zombies saga, and what it was like to help bring Zombies to the comic book medium. In addition, Blundell will be joined by Treyarch’s Lead Writer Craig Houston earlier that same day for a special guest signing at the Dark Horse Comics Booth (#2615) at 12pm PT.
