Super Engines, Warp Orbs, and a brand new GP Decal: Updates to Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled!

We give fans a look at a few changes going live this weekend.

We hope you all have had an incredible journey back to the Stone Age in the Back N. Time Grand Prix!* While this season may be wrapping up, Beenox has been working on some updates to Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, and we wanted to quickly share a few of those going live this weekend.

First, starting today and lasting until the end of this weekend, you will see a new powerup in Online Multiplayer races – the Super Engine! The Super Engine gives players a speed boost for a limited amount of time and is a great way for players falling behind to get back in the race. The Super Engine has always existed in Battle Modes, but this weekend it’s being introduced to Online races for the first time. It’s something Beenox is testing out, so let us know how you feel about it in social comments and on the game boards, to see if it’s something that should be added to the permanent powerup rotation.

Second, also going live today, adjustments have been made to the distribution rate of all powerups in Online Multiplayer Racing. You may notice the Warp Orb and N. Tropy Clock powerup rates have been greatly reduced. The intent of this adjustment is to create a more balanced and enjoyable online racing environment for all players. This adjustment will remain in place for now, but the Beenox team will continue monitoring the powerup distribution rate to see if there are further adjustments needed in the future.

Finally, you may have noticed at the start of the Back N. Time Grand Prix that everyone who had received the Championship kart from the Nitro Tour Grand Prix immediately received the Back N. Time Signature decal.  This decal was meant to be locked until the end of the Back N. Time Grand Prix, for those who finished in the top 5% of either Leaderboard. It was inadvertently unlocked early, so Beenox has been at work creating a whole new Signature decal as another reward for those who finish this Grand Prix in the top 5%.

The original Back N. Time Grand Prix decal will remain unlocked for any player who has it. For those that don’t, it will also be rewarded to any player who finish in the top 5% this season in addition to the new one.

The Back N. Time Grand Prix ends at 4:59PM PDT on Sunday (11:59PM UTC), and the rewards for finishing at the top of the leaderboards will be distributed next week, so keep racing this weekend to better your chance at a spot in the top 5%!
