What do you do at Activision?
Upon joining the Employee Communications team in July 2017, I knew that I was in for an exciting and inspiring journey. I am pleased to say that my experience thus far has not only lived up to those expectations, but surpassed them. Every day is different for our small-but-mighty internal communications team, so I wear many hats in my role to style every occasion.
My daily routine and projects span across a vast spectrum, including support for Activision, the Call of Duty Endowment, game launch announcements, our annual Veterans Day of Service, industry event coverage, content management for our global intranet, supporting our employee education series, and much more. There's never a dull moment as no two days are alike, and I would have it no other way!
What is your favorite part about working here?
Aside from the fact that you can't beat the amazing people and culture at this company, it's exciting to be a part of an innovative entity that is changing the game in interactive entertainment. The intellectual property published by Activision touches people from all walks of life: for some, it can be a fun escape, for others, it is a community, and for many, it has transformed lives in unimaginable ways. People identify with the characters and plots from our titles, and even discover a part of themselves to be unlocked and expressed within each story. To consider myself as even a small part of something of that magnitude feels very special.
What is your favorite Activision video game?
Destiny 2 and Crash Bandicoot keep my PS4 warm and running! Both games provide me with a very different kind of entertainment. With Destiny, I enjoy the storyline and out-of-this-world theme that ties into saving our planet and humanity, and it’s relatable in context with elements of fantasy and magic. Then there’s Crash, which promises endless hours of light-hearted, platforming fun.
How do you put Activision’s Core Values into action?
I firmly believe in You Gotta Have Fun To Make Fun, and I’m fortunate enough to come into the office every morning to a culture and team that embody just that. Keeping things fun and fresh are essential to making your profession feel less like work and more like play. That passion for fun is what gets our creative juices flowing and sparks innovation. When you enjoy what you’re doing, every day will be inspiring, and what better place for that than at a company which designs fun at its very core?
What do you like to do for fun?
Outside of the office, you can find me out and about in Santa Monica or exploring all that Los Angeles has to offer. I can't get enough of my friends and family, so I frequently bring them along on my excursions. Travel is essential to me and I aim to accumulate as many stamps as possible on my passport; my bucket list in itself could wrap around the globe (and I'm always looking for a way to practice my Spanish or Italian). On weekends, my itinerary usually consists of trying new restaurants and local wine spots or checking out the latest blockbuster with a mandatory bucket of popcorn. I'm also a huge animal fanatic and am on the constant search for humane ways to interact with them. I recently rescued a kitty named Gatsby and it has been one of the most rewarding experiences!
Finally, if you could be any Activision character, who would you choose and why?
Although I’m already a Warlock in Destiny 2, I must say I’d pick Spyro or Cynder, as I'm kind of obsessed with dragons. They had me at flying and fire-breathing!
