In preparation for four days of Skylanders fun at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) later this week, Activision has announced the Skylanders Trap Team Dark Edition — a new Starter Pack that comes with the Ultimate Kaos Trap, three exclusive character variants, and more.
The Skylanders Trap Team Dark Edition takes a sinister spin on the standard Starter Pack by offering the Ultimate Kaos Trap right out of the box, which enables players to capture and play as the series' marquee villain. It also comes with three exclusive black and silver character variants of Snap Shot, Wildfire, and Food Fight, as well as a unique two-sided ultimate collector's poster, sticker sheets, and trading cards.
Comic-Con attendees will have a rare opportunity to see the new Dark Edition toys first-hand and place a pre-order at the Skylander's booth (#303). North American fans unable to attend the convention will also be able to pre-order the Dark Edition Starter Pack at major retailers starting today. The Skylanders Dark Edition will go on sale October 5th for $99 on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, and Wii U.
But this is just the start for Skylanders at Comic-Con. On Thursday, July 24th at 6pm in Room 7AB, Activision will host the Skylanders: The Creative Process of Bringing Toys to Life panel, moderated by Geoff Keighley. Comic book writer Ron Marz, the voice of Kaos Richard Horvitz, and Toys for Bob's Director of Toy and Character Development, I-Wei Huang, will share rare insights and a major announcement regarding new Skylanders characters. Additionally, there will be a Skylanders costume contest at the panel with more than $5,000 worth of prizes and rare toys up for grabs.
Fans will also have a chance to go hands-on with Skylanders Trap Team and secure special giveaways at several locations throughout the show. Finally, IDW publishing (Booth #2643) will be unveiling Issue #0 of the first-ever Skylanders comic-book series — a 16-page story that acts as a prequel to Skylanders Trap Team.
