When we introduced Guitar Hero Live in March, we announced two ways to play with GH Live and GHTV. On the one hand, GH Live puts you center stage in front of live-action crowds as part of real bands that both react dynamically to how you play. Meanwhile, GHTV lets you dive into the world’s first 24-hour playable music video network, where you can explore and discover hundreds of songs spanning a broad array of genres. At reveal, we got an extended look at GH Live, but this week at E3, we’re diving deeper into GHTV, sharing more about how players will discover new music and challenge friends in local and online multiplayer.

At the center of GHTV are channels of always on, continually evolving lineups of programming. You’ll be able to tune in any hour of the day, seven days a week and jam along to high-definition music videos. You can bounce between genre-specific lineups of videos and custom programming, for example, an hour of hard-hitting metal. You can also unlock Premium Content, like music videos new to GHTV, live concert footage, and more, by completing challenges.

As you play, you’ll also earn in-game currency, which can be used to play any song in the GHTV catalog on-demand. In-game currency can also be used to acquire vanity items, like player cards or custom note highways. If you really love a particular song and want immediate access, you can also spend real money to unlock it right away.

GHTV is also intended to be a social experience. Compete against your friends or work together in two-player local multiplayer or battle it out online for the highest score in two-player competitive play. Hero Powers—similar to Star Power in previous Guitar Hero games—can give you a competitive edge, such as a temporary boost to earn points and in-game currency or to briefly increase the difficulty for your opponent. Hero Powers are unlocked as you advance through Guitar Hero Live.

In addition to detailing GHTV, this week at E3 we also announced that Guitar Hero Live would be launching October 20 in North America and confirmed 20 new songs playable in the game.
