Call of Duty: Mobile’s Multiplayer maps include some of the most iconic maps from the franchise, like our subject for this Map Snapshot, Nuketown.

The very first Multiplayer map you play on after the tutorial may be small, but every inch of it creates a frenetic, high octane experience that has helped it stand the test of time for nearly a decade.

This is your Map Snapshot of Nuketown:

Lay of the Land

Since its introduction in Call of Duty®: Black Ops, Nuketown has appeared in every game of the Black Ops franchise, with each iteration after the original Black Ops being a re-imagining of the classic map.

In Call of Duty: Mobile, Nuketown is back in its glorious original form.

The locale is a National Security Site in a top-secret location within the state of Nevada. This mock town acts as the nuclear testing grounds for classified weapons, but for this battle, it is a battleground for team tactical warfare.

In team-based game modes, the two squads spawn on opposite sides of the map in the backyard of two houses. The north green-blue house and the south yellow house both have second floor bedrooms and garages to explore, as well as  gardens at the very rear of their respective backyards.

Between these two houses is the cul-de-sac proper; an open truck and a large bus break up the otherwise open road. To the west is a lone car that sits in front of a pink house at the end of the dead end, while the east has a blockade in front of the vista where the rest of the community lives.

Boot Camp: Basic Tips

By design, Nuketown encourages a high level of fast-paced action.

Given that it takes well under half a minute to go from end-to-end of this map, and both houses are fairly cramped, there is an emphasis on close-quarters combat, but all sorts of engagements can happen here.

Be on high alert should you drop into this test site, as fighting will stop for no soldier… or mannequin.

On the other hand, should you go down in Nuketown, don’t fret; anyone who has played Nuketown can tell you the countless times they have fallen here. Just dust off those boots, respawn in, and get back to playing for the win!

Mobile Master Tactics

Historically speaking, Nuketown gets especially tense towards the center of the map. With many routes from both ends of the cul-de-sac, including one down the dead center of the map, and with multiple sightlines – or long open spaces where one can use a weapon with little to no obstruction – cutting across here, it may be a tough area to survive if you are caught out here for too long.

If playing in this hotly contested center isn’t your preference, both houses also see plenty of action, as does the side yards where long sightlines exist. These side yards sometimes have a bit of foot traffic, especially at the beginning of games or after a team wipe.

In this side yard, long-range weaponry could shine; with limited long-distance fight opportunities, these side yards could help a sniper catch a close-quarters build player by surprise.

Then again, the second floors of both houses are common areas for sharpshooters to roost. Just be careful; many veteran players already know the role that these power positions play on Nuketown, so expect a few counterattacks when setting up here.

Scorestreak Field Guide

Nuketown is small enough where a well-placed and/or well-timed Scorestreak can do massive damage to an enemy team.

Be advised, however, that when an attack-oriented Scorestreak comes to Nuketown, an enemy player may commonly seek shelter in one of the houses. If that happens, consider asking a teammate to go in and clean house, or angle that Scorestreak, such as the VTOL, into any open windows or doors to seek and destroy enemy forces.

Alternatively, to counter the potential barrage of enemy Scorestreaks, a SAM Turret could be a wise Scorestreak to include in your loadout. Placing the SAM Turret in the back of either house’s gardens might be a good idea, as it would most likely be removed from constant crossfire.

Otherwise, you can’t go wrong with a UAV; despite its size, it is easy to lose an enemy in Nuketown, especially if they are the type to constantly flank and move about the map.

Survey of Objective Play

Both ends of the cul-de-sac where the roadblock and pink house are can sometimes be places of objective importance. There are several approaches to either area, including some that are indirect that may catch opponents by surprise.

For offensive players, consider using long-range weaponry at the roadblock or pink house to break down enemy players assault, particularly those with close-quarters loadouts.

On defense, should you have Scorestreaks, fire away on enemies attempting to hold these strategic areas, since there is little to no cover. Or work with teammates to push out foes from these positions and hold them down if you like.

Other times, the interiors of either house could serve as objectives. Here, close-quarters builds are useful in tight spaces, and aerial Scorestreaks may not be as effective given the amount of cover.

Top-10 Tips

10. Consider joining the fun of this high level of fast-paced action with an agile, close-quarters loadout.

9. If you’re a sharpshooter, there are a few big sightlines on this map, including a few down the side yards.

8. Look out for sharpshooters peering out of the second-floor windows of either house; this is very common tactical high ground to take.

7. If you’re on the hunt for action, either ends of the cul-de-sac – the pink house and roadblock – tend to be hot spots for combat.

6. With little overhead protection throughout the map, aerial Scorestreaks can do real damage, and it might be worth equipping one for a Nuketown match.

5. When a teammate is using a powerful aerial Scorestreak, consider running through the houses to potentially find enemies in hiding.

4. When travelling through the houses, be prepared for potentially frequent close-quarters combat due to the tight spaces.

3. Generally speaking, watch out for enemy forces that can appear anywhere on the map, given Nuketown’s size.

2. Don’t worry too much about untimely demises on Nuketown; it happens to everyone, so dust off those combat boots and get right back into the fight.

1. Our most important tip, as always and for every map in Call of Duty: Mobile, is to have fun!
