Season Two introduced two new weapons in the Battle Pass system: the Grau 5.56 and the Striker 45. The first of these two free weapons is at Tier 15 and a formidable assault rifle.
For those that purchased the Battle Pass Bundle, the Grau 5.56 is already in your armory. Before you head into battle, check out our suggested Gunfight configuration including its Battle Pass blueprint that couples the weapon’s solid damage output with high mobility.
Grau 5.56 Overview
The Grau 5.56 is an all-around performer in the assault rifle class, and thanks to Gunsmith its capabilities can be extended to favor those that like strong SMGs and long-distance lethality.
As noted in its name, the Grau takes 5.56 ammo which is similar to some LMGs, like the Holger-26, meaning it dishes out solid damage, but at much quicker rate and ADS time than all LMGs.
5.56 is also an extremely common ammo type, so players shouldn’t have to run Scavenger to keep this weapon stocked. Simply run over weapons that take the same ammo, like the Kilo 141, then get back into the fight.
The base Grau 5.56 is a solid performer that’s extremely balanced in terms of accuracy, damage, range, control, and mobility. It has a sleek look and a modest initial ammo capacity of 60 with 30 bullets in each cartridge. It has some of the best range in the class, while its mobility also leads the assault rifle pack alongside the RAM-7.
The Grau is categorized by being lightweight and maneuverable, with exceptional range. It will be a solid performer in the hands of any Operator and further specialized with different configurations in Gunsmith.
Blueprint Review
Available to unlock at Tier 85 for Battle Pass owners, the Legendary ‘Shadowsight’ blueprint gives the Grau a new look from a tactical and visual standpoint. The No Stock attachment and ZLR Drifter A-08 change both the functionality and the look of the weapon while adding in some exceptional benefits.
The blueprint description reads: “Fill the mortal realm with the souls of the departed using the Shadowsight Assault Rifle.” A fitting description for this extremely agile configuration that boasts solid recoil control alongside top tier accuracy.
For those that want reliable and accurate damage in short to medium distances, this blueprint will fulfill your desire and be extremely lethal.
Top 5 Loadout Ideas
1. The ‘Shadowsight’ Blueprint
The ‘Shadowsight’ leans into the best capabilities of an SMG while offering a greater damage profile than the SMG class and average and extremely good accuracy and control. As you continue to level up this weapon feel free to modify the scope of the blueprint to potentially up the precision. If you are an agile player that enjoys a fast and frenetic pace, this blueprint is designed for you. The below list of suggested perks and equipment complement a mobile playstyle:
Suggested paired perks: Double Time, Ghost, and Tracker
Suggested equipment: Throwing Knife and Stim
2. Ol’ Reliable
Attachments: FSS 26.4” Archangel, Tac Laser, FSS Blackjack, Cronen Shark II, Cronen Sniper Elite
Ol’ Reliable strengthens accuracy and control to ensure each shot lands on target to down your opponent faster. If you struggle with landing successive shots or snapping onto an enemy after moving or sliding this configuration will be extremely beneficial. Consider using this to complete assault rifle headshot challenges. The below list of suggested perks and equipment complement a steady playstyle giving you more reliable tools in battle faster.
Suggested paired perks: E.O.D Restock, Tune Up
Suggested equipment: Frag Grenade and Flash Grenade
3. Ranged Power
Attachments: Monolithic Suppressor, Variable Zoom Scope, 60 Round Mags, XRK CZEN MK2, FMJ
Ideal for longshot battles, this configuration overemphasizes power at range while sacrificing some mobility and control. Ideal for maps like St. Petrograd, Piccadilly, Gun Runner, and Arklov Peak, the Variable Zoom Scope gives you more precise targeting to hit enemies at longer ranges. Be mindful that the slightly slower ADS time and the zoom might make it more difficult to enemies that are extremely close. Consider pairing this weapon with a strong shotgun to compensate. Below are suggested perks and equipment for marksman style players:
Suggested paired perks: Cold-Blooded, Overkill, Spotter
Suggested equipment: Decoy Grenade, Proximity Mine
4. Too Close For Comfort
Attachments: Breacher Device, No Stock, M203 40mm Incendiary, XRK Void II, Fast Melee
This configuration aims for close range lethality with a boost to mobility, however you’ll sacrifice control and range while not being quite as agile as the ‘Shadowsight’ variant. If you want more ‘oomph’ up close, then this is for you. Consider equipping a handgun the .357 for its range and damage, or my personal favorite, the .50 GS for its overall balance in all categories.
Suggested paired perks: Quick Fix, High Alert, Tracker
Suggest equipment: C4, Snapshot Grenade
5. Balance ++
Attachments: FSS 26.4” Archangel, Cronen LP945 Mini Reflex, No Stock, Cronen Shark II, FTAC R-89 Rubber
This configuration stretches the capabilities of the Grau in all categories while improving on its innate stats as a well-rounded weapon. Equip the scope of your choice, but the clear sight picture of the Cronen LP945 Mini Reflex works well on multiple weapons. Equipping it here gives consistency in your field of view which can boost your overall accuracy with weapons. Below are suggested perks and equipment for Operators that play balanced while working to achieve Killstreaks with devastating impact.
Suggested paired perks: Killchain, Hardline, Battle Hardened
Suggested equipment: Semtex and Stun Grenade
These are only five possible configurations for the Grau 5.56 that amplify certain playstyles. Utilize Gunsmith and blueprints to craft weapons that fit your needs in battle. Enjoy using this weapon once you earn it at Tier 15 in the Battle Pass system.
We’ll see you online. Stay frosty.
