On October 5, Skylanders Trap Team will arrive across both current and last-gen consoles, and for the first time ever, tablets — but that's not all. Unveiled today, the Skylanders Trap Team Nintendo 3DS Starter Pack will bring a unique Skylanders experience, complete with a new story, levels, and characters, as well as a multiplayer version of the popular Skylanders Skystones card game. The Starter Pack will come with a copy of the game, a special Portal of Power specific to the Nintendo 3DS, and two exclusive Skylanders figures — Gusto and Barkley.

The Nintendo 3DS version of Skylanders Trap Team makes creative use of the system's dual screen hardware, allowing players to pull villains out of the game with their stylus to trap them in the Traptanium Vault. Additionally, players can also interact with the characters by poking, spinning, and tickling them through the touchscreen. To make gaming on the go easier, characters can be loaded directly into the game via the Portal of Power, allowing for quick character swaps without the need for additional hardware while traveling.

Like in other versions of the game, players can call upon captured villains to help during the campaign or in 13 new "bootcamp" modes. And, of course, the game is backwards compatible with all previous toys from Skylanders Spyro's Adventure, Skylanders Giants, and Skylanders SWAP Force. The Skylanders Trap Team Nintendo 3DS Starter Pack goes on sale alongside the other versions of the game on October 5 in North America for $64.99. The game will launch in Australia and Europe on October 2 and October 10, respectively.
