Happy St. Patrick’s Day, Guardians!
Welcome back to “Xur’s Wares.” In this weekly series I take a look at what the ol’ Agent of the Nine is selling and give you my opinion on what he’s got.
This week you can find Xur in the Tower, downstairs to the right of Commander Zavala. He’s selling: The Glasshouse, Shinobu’s Vow, The Ram, and Telesto. Additionally, he’s got the usual non-rotating stock of curios, heavy ammo, exotic shards, glass needles and the like. Find out more about them here.Okay, let’s do this!
This Titan helmet functions best when playing the support role of the Defender class. Its perk, “Blessing of Light & Weapons of Light last longer” is a boon when you have an entire team shooting together. This makes it VERY useful for any boss fights, be it Story, Strike, PoE, or Raid. And with the upcoming Age of Triumph light level increases on many activities, this helm could prove vital. I could see it as potentially useful in PVP if you pop a bubble at same time as heavy weapons ammo drops. Your team would (hopefully) be concentrated around the heavy ammo box and be able to make use of buff. Of course, if the other team has rockets, having on overshield won’t make much of a difference.
These gauntlets are specifically for the Bladedancer Hunter. Skip Grenades having become a very, very viable PVP option and the exotic perk on these gloves reads as “Improves Skip Grenade and gain an additional Skip Grenade charge.” These things have an insane ability to track, and these gauntlets assist with that in two ways. They are “improved” which results in overall better tracking, longer lasting, and greater speed. But that’s not all, they also give a SECOND charge. You can use these grenades to chase enemies out of cover — thrown one at the wall behind where someone is hiding and they will bounce back on them. Throw through a doorway and they can ricochet towards and then chase the bad guy. In PVE, they would be a great choice for when the “Catapult" or "Arc burn" modifiers are active or when dealing with crowds of adds like Thrall or Dregs.
Do you like infuriating people in PVP? if so, this Warlock helm may be the exotic for you. It’s one of the few defensive armor pieces in the game, which sounds crazy because isn’t armor about defense? At any rate, it gives you increased armor. If you pair that with maxing your armor abilities out in your skill tree, it will let you “tank” a variety of attacks. This helmet combined with the Sunbreaker melee overshield can make the wearer really, really hard to kill.
I don’t call this fusion rifle “The Besto” for nothing. It has two great exotic perks, the first “Fusion projectiles attach and detonate with a delayed Void blast” and “Multikills with this weapons spawn Orbs for your allies." This is THE weapon to use on a "Void Burn." If it’s “Specialist" or “Airborne”, all the better. Shoot, then jump. The projectiles will detonate moments later, so by jumping you’ll get the boost. This is great for yellow bar bad guys as well as smaller adds. You can do good DPS to the bigger enemies or rack up multikills and help your team with the smaller.
No matter who the enemy is, forget the resto and grab your Telesto! But don’t order yet because this weapon also has PVP uses too! The projectiles’ delayed reaction make this a great “area of effect” weapon, so if you are playing an objective-based game like Control or Scavenger, you shoot at a location and damage any enemy that gets near. So if you don’t already have it, get this gun ASAP!
Well, that’s it for this week! As usual, these pieces of armor can be had for 13 Strange Coins while the gun will set you back 17. May the luck of the Irish be with you, Guardians!
