Meet the Team: Luke Guidici

A brief introduction to Luke, the new Destiny contributor on the Activision Games Blog

Hey there!

Since I’m new to the Activision Games Blog, I thought I’d give y'all a little introduction. My name is Luke Guidici, but I’ll also answer to “Yeti” or “yetiesque”. I’m a filmmaker and writer with a deep love for sci-fi and and supernatural films. Sometimes I write prose too, like with my recently released found photo & short story book, “Found in Kitsap.” I also love playing video games which is why we’re here. On this blog I’m going to be talking about one of my favorite games — Destiny

While I’ve always played Destiny on a PS4, I’m relatively new to the world of console gaming. I got an Xbox 360 just before Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 came out, so I missed out on the early Bungie multiplayer days of Halo 2 and Halo 3. I’ve heard stories of those days and some of my clanmates actually met playing those games and many of the people I play with now, I met through friends I played Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 with. But I digress…

One of the things I really dug about FPS games was that I could sit down and play for 30 minutes and get my daily fix. It was a great way to unwind after work, to wake up in the morning, or just to take a break from weekend chores. But more than that, getting to play with friends reminded me of the way-back-when a bunch of us brought our PCs together to have a Doom LAN party. I might be dating myself here…but that’s okay.

The point is that there is just something awesome about playing video games with your friends and I think that Destiny has captured the collaboration, competition, and camaraderie that has made online gaming what it is today.

Now, I’m not a 1337 gamer or MLG pro, I’m a pretty average player... check my rather unimpressive lifetime K/D ratio if you doubt that. Heh. So you’re not going to see an aerial-sniper-headshot montage from me and I won’t be talking about how Trials of Osiris is “sweaty.” Instead I’m going to give you my personal perspective on the game.

I’ll talk about the things I love, my favorite experiences, and give you first hand accounts as I attempt some of the more challenging parts of the game. I’m sure some of you will have different takes on the game and I’d love to hear about them. It’s great to learn new tricks and techniques and I hope we can share them with each other.

Destiny is an amazing world and whether you’ve been playing the game since the beta, or just picked up Rise of Iron, there are still things to explore, challenges to be had, and the opportunity to spend time with friends. I look forward in continuing that adventure with you all!
