Introducing New Ways to Upgrade Gear in Destiny

Latest update streamlines the process for personalizing weapons and armor.

In the latest update to Destiny, available now across all platforms, Bungie has streamlined the process of acquiring valuable upgrade materials and introduced significant changes to how players personalize some of their most coveted weapons and armor.

Now, in addition to scouring Destiny’s worlds, players can now purchase Spinmetal, Relic Iron, and other upgrade materials with Vanguard and Crucible marks from the Vanguard and Crucible Quartermasters in the Tower. What’s more, Exotic weapons have been tweaked to ensure their effectiveness matches their distinctive design and rarity level. The base attack damage of Exotics has been increased, though for the sake of balance, the impact of upgrades has been narrowed.

The process for upgrading an Exotic weapon or piece of armor has also undergone notable changes. Instead of Ascendant Materials, Exotic armor and weapons now make use of Exotic Shards, which can be obtained by dismantling other unwanted Exotics or purchased from Xur, a vendor in the Tower, for seven strange coins.

The update arrives in preparation for Destiny’s first expansion, The Dark Below, which adds new weapons and gear, as well as story quests, Crucible maps, a strike mission, and a raid. Those attending the PlayStation Experience in Las Vegas this weekend will have an opportunity to check out The Dark Below first-hand before its release on December 9.

Very much, yes. Its a nice balance, going between

AW and Evil. I like the dark overtone, and the RE4 style of gameplay.

Same, along with story and collectables.
